The Minnesota State Lottery’s tenth year was its best—sales totaled a record $397.2 million, a 1.8% increase from fiscal year 1999. Sales of scratch games reached $282.4 million for fiscal year 2000. In the Clarissa area lottery sales totaled $71,244, a 44.1% increase from fiscal year 1999. Scratch games sales totaled $59,369 and online games sales totaled $11,875.

The Rebels football started out the season with a strong performance as they defeated the visiting Sebeka Trojans 44-0 last Thursday night. The outcome of the game was decided quickly as the Rebels scored 38 first half points. Eagle Valley scored two first quarter touchdowns—the first was on a 57 yard drive ending with a six yard run by senior Austin Murch. Josh Motl kicked the extra point. Antone Motl didn’t wait for the offense to score the next touchdown. He received the punt at the 40 and returned it all the way for the touchdown.

Plans for the 1975 Homecoming are underway this week. Candidates for queen are: Lori Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson; Judy Burns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Burns; Cyndi Lundstrom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lundstrom; Mary Schnettler, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Richard Schnettler; and Roxanne Wagner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wagner.

The Little Chapel of the Flowers was dedicated on Sunday, August 24 in an impressive outdoor ceremony with Reverend George Echenbacher of Randall officiating.
