The 2000 Envirofest was held on Thursday, September 28 at the Dale Katterhagen farm east of Browerville. Sixth grade students from throughout Todd County participated in this environmental educational experience. Pictured were: Steve Lutes, Natural Resource Conservation Service in Long Prairie, teaching the students about different kinds of soils. Eagle Valley students included: Samantha Zins, Nathan Ahrendt, Adam Zeidler, Matt Aspengren, Mikayla Krause and Maria Pieper. The students learned what was the best soil for gardening.

Cassie Snyder had the largest sunflower head at 40 inches. She was followed closely by Maria Pieper’s sunflower which measured 33 1/2 inches in circumference. Fifth graders were given sunflower seeds by the Hoe and Hope Garden Club from Clarissa. The students planted the seeds and competed in the fall for the largest sunflower head. The winners were presented with bird feeders.

October 9, 1975
Next Monday, October 13, the Clarissa Medical Center will again be officially opened. Hours will be from 10-12 p.m., and 2-4:40 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Dr. Lillian A. Olson, M.D.F.C.C.P. will be on duty at the clinic which was formerly the office of Dr. F.N. Grose.

Pearl’s Variety will be under new management next week Wednesday, October 15, as Mrs. Pearl Johnson has sold her business interests to Randy Onken.
