Spreading the message of staying sober and wearing seatbelts was the message of Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) youth leading the youth jam on Saturday, February 10 in Lakeville. Fourteen youth from Todd County schools joined 400 other Minnesota students at this event. Bertha-Hewitt students who participated were: Advisor Jean Shaw, Holly Bertram, Becky Shaw, Krysta Lambert, Jessica Elgin, Makyla Rach and Monica Messer.

A large crowd of parents and students attended the inaugural Freshwater Education District Science Fair at the Bertha Community Center. The science fair is the first major event to be scheduled and held at the new community center.
75 Years Ago
February, 1951
The largest crowd in its history attended the annual meeting of the Bertha Cooperative Creamery Association. About 650 people were served by the creamery at noon. The annual report showed production and sales were down in 1950 in both butter and the dried milk division. The cause was said to be severe drought conditions this past summer.

The Hewitt Rangers just didn’t shine in the opening game of their sub-district tournament at Staples and took a 77 to 33 shellacking from the hot Pillager team.
