Pirates Battle Through Difficult Week on the Hardwood

The Pirates struggled to find their rhythm in a 37-58 loss to the Bertha-Hewitt Bears on February 10. At halftime, Verndale was down 16-39, but played a more even second half. The Bears interior game was too much for the Pirates as the Bears scored 40 of their points in the lane. Millie Schmitz led the Pirates with 8 points and 12 rebounds, while Emily Elfstrum added 7 points.

Stats: Elfstrum 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist. Orlando 6 points, 3 assists, 1 steal. Hinkle 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals. Cameron 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal. Kveton 2 rebunds, 1 steal. Vosman 5 points, 4 rebounds. White 2 points, 1 rebound. M. Schmitz 8 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals.

Despite generating quality looks throughout the game, the shots just would not fall for the Pirates resulting in a 29-45 loss to the Battle Lake Battlers...
