At the regular Todd County Commissioner meeting held on January 6, the commissioners approved the Todd County Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee’s request to fund the purchase of a medication drop box, sharps collection box, and naloxon distribution site to be housed at the sheriff’s office lobby for $4,570.57 as presented by Jackie Och and Katherine Mackedanz, Health and Human Services. The location would be open 24 hours a day as it would be in the lobby. Commissioner Neumann stated there were currently no locations in Todd County where sharpies can be disposed. With the increased use of GLP-1’s residents don’t have a safe way to dispose of sharpies. The Solid Waste Department said the sharpies are found in empty laundry bottles, which is a hazard to employees running the recycling line.
