Strong Week Sees Bears Secure Two Home Victories

Bertha-Hewitt 58, Verndale 37

The Bertha-Hewitt girls basketball team used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to secure a 58–37 win over Verndale on February 10.

Kendal Beyatt led Bertha-Hewitt offensively with 17 points, shooting an efficient 8-for-14 from the field, including a three-pointer. Kyrstin Beyatt added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jasmine Williams finished with 11 points and five steals to provide a spark on both ends of the floor.

Piper Dean contributed eight points, eight rebounds, five steals, and two blocks in a strong all-around performance. Kendra Miller added six points, five assists, and three steals to help facilitate the offense.

Additional scoring came from Aulani Johnson with four points and Olivia Betterman with two. The Bears spread the ball well, with Miller’s five assists leading the way and multiple players recording at least one helper.

Defensively, Bertha-Hewitt created consistent disruption. Dean and Williams each tallied five steals, while Kendal Beyatt recorded three blocks and two steals. Kyrstin Beyatt added three steals and a block, helping limit Verndale’s offensive rhythm.

On the glass, Dean pulled down eight rebounds, Kyrstin Beyatt added seven, and Johnson finished with six as Bertha-Hewitt controlled key possessions.
