Possible modifications to curriculum
Modification to the school curriculum and graduation requirements were reviewed.
Discussed adding auto and home maintenance classes while also reducing class sizes.
Also discussed adding an extra half-year of math for the seniors. Three years are required by the state. The district can require more and they are looking at 3.5 years.
They are looking at 78 credits required for graduation, 21 of those being from elected classes. The current requirement for graduation is 76.5 credits. There are 84 credits available to the students during their high school careers.
Administrative Reports
Dean of Students and Activities Director Greg Johnson reported they won their appeal to remain nine-man football for the next two seasons. The new section alignments will be coming out soon. Volleyball, boys and girls basketball, could change to Section 6, but Johnson believes they will remain the same. Girls track has 32, boys track 17, softball 28, baseball 28 (from Verndale). Three are interested in boys golf and one for girls golf. The boy's basketball team was named the Section 5A academic champions. Track is allowing up to eight teams to compete together but is limiting the numbers of participants. . .
