Verndale XC Team Excels at Section 6A Meet
by Coach Heidi Brandsma On Tuesday, October 14, the Verndale Pirates cross-country team competed at the Park Region Conference meet, hosted by Otter Tail Central and held at Balmoral Golf Course. We were greeted with cold, rainy conditions, but overall, the Pirates rose to the occasion and ran well. The meet started with the Varsity Girls. Running for Verndale was Angelica Arroyo, completing the course in a time of 27 minutes and 53 seconds, followed closely by Heta Tervo

Pirates Sunk by Ogilvie's Ground Game
The Verndale Pirates battled hard on the road Tuesday night but came up short against Ogilvie, falling 24–12. Ogilvie struck first in the second quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run from Brody Smith, followed by a successful two-point conversion on a pass from Xander Kimble to Keden Felde. Cardinals Overpower Pirates in High-Scoring Battle
The Verndale Pirates put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to Cromwell-Wright, 56-28, in a high-scoring matchup on Friday night, October 17. Cromwell jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter with three straight touchdowns — a 5-yard run by Brahm Jordan, an 8-yard pass from Brenden Gronner to Lane Gervais, and a 3-yard run by Gervais — to make it 22-0.
