A Matter of Perspective

When I was growing up there were four movies that were a must to watch annually: The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Except for It’s a Wonderful Life, they were all musicals (I don’t count the slightly off-key duet by Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in It’s A Wonderful Life).

Each year I would watch closely to see when these classics would be on.

If for some reason I could not watch one of them, it was a tragedy.

I have written in the past about how I would love it if “real” life was a musical. Of course, that would mean that all of us would have nearly perfect singing voices!

I think that music is the essence of life. I can only imagine that God created music because He loves to listen to us sing (even if we are off-key and can’t hold a note!).

One of my favorite singing groups is Pentatonix. I think the human voice is one of the most beautiful “instruments” I have ever heard. This group’s acapella singing reaches in and brightens my day. I even listen to their Christmas CDs year round because I am enlightened and lifted up by the power of those unaccompanied voices!

Just imagine if life were a musical and we had only our voices to raise up? I think that would be awesome.

Even if we were “angry singing” it would sound heavenly!

Anyway, I think I may have to write the lyrics to a musical someday. I have lots of ideas for one.

Time will tell, I guess. Camp NaNoWriMo is coming up soon. Maybe that will be my project!
