A Matter of Perspective

I think I read yesterday that mass shootings were up 75% so far in 2021. Every time (and it seems like every day lately) I read or hear of another shooting I ask myself what in the world is going on? (I might use a bit different phrasing...)

I hear all sorts of reasons for this, but in my humble opinion, it boils down to one thing—people need the Lord Jesus Christ.

We can blame society and the woes of the world. We can blame COVID-19 and racism. But the fact remains—people need the Lord.

Some might say I have no “right” to talk about what the world needs, but that doesn’t stop me from having an opinion about this and my opinion is—people need the Lord.

I could go on and on about this, but I think I made the point I intended to. If you need someone to talk to about your relationship with God, there are many churches in the area to meet your needs. If you are unsure of where to go, each week the Independent News Herald runs a church directory with contact information. The Verndale Sun runs a directory every other week. I hope that these resources will meet your needs.

We all want to belong and to feel that we are a part of something bigger. We all want to feel like our lives matter and that we have a purpose. Perhaps you might find your purpose through a relationship with God.

Well, updates of a sort, anyway.

• I have some happy news. My fasting blood sugar is almost where it should be. This morning it was 155. I have also lost 6.4 pounds since April 7. Like I said, happy news!

• I have been enjoying my time on the Clarissa City Council so far. We haven’t had any major issues arise yet, but I am preparing myself for those. If you have concerns or issues, we encourage you to come to a council meeting. They are typically held on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. If you have an issue you would like me to address at a meeting, please let me know so I can get it on our agenda.
