Bears lose on Homecoming but bounce back in spectacular fashion

On October 6, 2023, the Bertha-Hewitt Bears football team hosted the Verndale Pirates on an exciting Homecoming night.

The Pirates stormed out to a 16-0 lead, setting the stage for a thrilling comeback. Just before halftime, the Bears’ Trenton Becker made a sensational play, scrambling his way into the end zone to narrow the lead to 8-16 in favor of the Pirates.

The Bears, unfortunately, couldn’t find their footing in the second half, ultimately losing to the Pirates with a final score of 28-8....
