Food shelf distribution went well

by Trinity Gruenberg

The Verndale Area Food Shelf held its special food distribution on Monday, June 8.

The North Country Food Bank truck dropped off four pallets that included boxes of meat, dairy and produce. There were a total of 75 boxes.

People were given a number then waited to pick up a box of each of the three food groups that contained chicken strips, ground turkey, cheese, lettuce, apples, carrots and oranges.

The distribution went smoothly with only three boxes of each remaining that were brought into the food shelf for distribution.

Inside the food shelf, the new coolers and shelves were stocked and ready for customers. The shelves and coolers were purchased using Coronavirus Food Assistance Program funds.

Directional arrows were added to the floor to help avoid contact with other customers.
