Grass fire north of Verndale

At approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, the Verndale Fire Department was called to a grass fire three miles north of town on County Road 23. The fire spread from a burn pile and covered approximately 18 acres. The fire was quickly extinguished. The Verndale Police Department, Wadena County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted at the scene.
