Last Monday, the new library-on-wheels, the Readmobile, made its first voyage through Todd County. The Readmobile is a custom built vehicle that is approximately 25 feet long. It resembles the old bookmobiles that served the area before most communities had a branch library. The Readmobile will be stopping at selected Head Start or Early Childhood Family Education centers in the community. In Todd County it will stop in Browerville and Clarissa.

The American Dairy Association Butter Knife Award was presented to Jim and Becky Pratt, owners of the Clarissa Ballroom. The award was presented on Thursday, October 28, at the Todd County Farmer Appreciation night.

Halloween night in the city of Clarissa was rather quiet with reports of not even too many trick-or-treaters out and about. Possibly the rainy weather dampened the little witches and goblins spirits. However, it seems like more than pranksters were out the night before because eight window panes were broken out in the home of Police Chief Dennis Pooler last Wednesday evening.

The “cash box” at the Clarissa DeLaval somehow disappeared last Thursday morning, October 31, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The box contained about $50 in cash and an undetermined about of checks.
