25 Years Ago

September 27, 1995

Karin Nauber recently joined the Independent News Herald staff as associate editor. For the past year, she has been living in Clarissa working in group homes. Karin graduated from Metropolitan State University with a bachelor of arts in psychology and a minor in writing.

The 61st annual Northeast 4-H Livestock Show was held at the Brainerd High School Farm. Seven Todd County 4-H’ers participated in the event. David Holmquist, Hustlin Rustics, Clarissa, received the Champion Senior Swine Showman award and a red ribbon for his market barrow.


50 Years Ago

September 24, 1970

The Clarissa Buccaneers football team had a great finish last Friday evening when they rolled over Grey Eagle 30-0. The Bucs displayed a stout defensive game and a powerful running contest with 250 yards on the ground.

Spencer Hayes and Gail Thompson were elected king and queen of the Clarissa High School homecoming activities by the student body last weekend. They were crowned at a special program last Friday at the high school auditorium.
