On May 10 and 11, for the first time in history, three members of the Browerville/Eagle Valley Speech Team competed in the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) at Bellevue West High School in Nebraska. There were teams from 23 states with over 1600 events.

At this year’s tournament there were over 1650 speakers!

To qualify and compete, a speaker must have earned a minimum of two bids from large NIETOC bid speech tournaments. The Browerville/Eagle Valley team earned bids at the Sauk Rapids/Rice Tournament and the Melrose Tournament, both held in March.

Earning bids and competing were: Sophomore Samuel Asmus in humorous interpretation; Junior Alexander Stormoen in humorous interpretation; and in duo interpretation Juniors Adrianna Eckel/Alexander Stormoen. The team of Eckel/Stormoen placed in the finals, putting them in the top 60 in the nation!...
