In Focus

I just got word this week that mom and I are mentioned in a book by a Hollywood stunt man/paranormal investigator that is now available. I can’t stop laughing!

Here is what happened...

You may recall me talking about Paracon, the paranormal convention held at the casino in Mahnomen every October. We have been attending since the second year the event was held.

On our first year going to the three day event, we wandered the hall where all the presenters were, people like the Ghost Hunters, Haunted Collector, Chip Coffee and so many more. It was an epic meeting of all these people we have watched on TV over the years, as well as some we didn’t know.

Enter Rick, Hollywood stunt man and member of a paranormal group called the Hollywood Ghost Hunters. You may have seen this group on the Pico House episode of Ghost Adventures. Rick attended the convention with Kane Hodder, aka Jason Vorhees in more recent years. They are both in the Hatchet movies.

These two guys are a ton of fun to talk to and hang out with. We kept encountering each other throughout the weekend and in the evenings when the event was done for the day, the bar on the casino floor was filled with convention-goers and presenters out for some fun conversation.

This is what is in the book...

This particular night, mom and I were sitting with our new friends having some drinks and enjoying their company when we noticed Rick who was trying to gracefully get away from a very drunk woman. Mom tried hollering at him to get his attention. It didn’t work. So after a few minutes of watching this painful yet hilarious interaction between the drunk chick and Rick, mom got out of her chair, walked over to Rick, and bit him in the butt.

I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.

I don’t know why she decided to do that. Everyone was so shocked that it turned into laughter and Rick was freed from the clutches of the drunk chick. Ever since then, Rick referred to mom as the chomping alligator or something along that line.

Needless to say, there were no hard feelings and it always has made for a good laugh. We all still talk from time to time and hopefully, Rick returns to Minnesota for Paracon someday...with some restraint from mom. He may need some chain mail underwear.
