25 Years Ago April 19, 1995 Lynn Teigland congratulated the 1994-95 Bertha-Hewitt DARE students. Their training officer was Russell VanDenheuvel. The graduates from his class: Kyla Alshire, Casey Allen, Holly Bertram, Alicia Bowman, Tracy Bowman, Tricia Bulcher, Jill Butler, Robert Cline, Durwyn Davis, Stacy Denny, Jason Everett, Joe Gebert, Jason Kempe, Stephanie Kneisl, Jeremy Miller, Josh Mohlenkamp, Carey Phiefer, Mark Rise, Josh Rudrud, Matt Samuelson, Mike Stokes, Andrea Ward, Tricia Westergren and Aaron Zimmerman. ********** Attending the American Legion Auxiliary 75th Anniversary dinner, hosted by Bertha’s William Larson Unit 366, were Ella Lindquist, past department president from Clarissa; Lois Knoll, past president from Sebeka; Bev Otterness, president from North Branch; Shirley Zablocki, president of the sixth district in Little Falls; and Marge Goepferd, past president and current unit president from Bertha.

75 Years Ago April 19, 1945 Corp. Raymond A. Anderson of Bertha took part in the dramatic recapture of Bataan and Corregidor when his antiaircraft outfit gave vital protection to General Charles 11th Corps in its drive to open Manila Bay to Allied Shipping. Anderson has the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Bronze Service Star for his action on Guadalcanal. ********** The clothing sale and lunch conducted by the Campfire Girls at the Congregational Church was a grand success. Over fifty dollars was raised and this will be used to conduct various activities for the organization.
