Judy Siegle knows the true meaning of limitation. She has experienced challenges and victory. On August 11, 1979, Judy suffered a broken neck which was the result of a car accident involving a drunk driver. She was told she was a quadriplegic, but she found a way to walk across the stage at Concordia College in Moorhead to receive her bachelor’s degree. Through MeritCare in Fargo she worked as a social worker, and she was able to train for the 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. Judy now devotes much of her time as a motivational speaker. She was born in Bertha at the Theil Hospital and her father, Al, was a teacher at Bertha-Hewitt.

An opportunity to “watch the birdie and smile” will be offered to all businessmen, professional persons and community leaders on Thursday between the hours of 3 and 8 p.m. A representative from a St. Paul professional photography studio will set up shop in the village council room. The purpose is to provide an up-to-date file of newspaper “cuts” for the Herald’s “library.” A project of this type has never been undertaken in the village and the Herald is desirous of obtaining cuts of our local personnel who are connected with a business, a profession or the community.
