News from Browerville's Past

August 10, 1995

U.S. Air Force Capt. Ronald B. Johnston, son of Retired Col. Ronald Johnston and his wife, Shelia, of Browerville, recently participated in the U.S. Atlantic Command’s training exercise Joint Task Force Exercise 95-3 from aboard the Navy’s command and control ship USS Mount Whitney. Johnston, an F-15C pilot, was assigned to the exercise from the 58th Fighter Squadron, Elgin Air Force Base, Florida. The jet pilot was one of more that 18,000 sailors, Marines, soldiers, Airmen and Cost Guardsmen who took part in the exercise.

Providers Choice, Inc., a Minnesota sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, is pleased to recognize Debra Callahan, Browerville, for her ten plus years participation in the program. During this time she has attended nutrition education classes, prepared and served USDA approved meals to the children in her care and provided nutrition education to the families for whom she provides child care services.

The Browerville City Council held a public hearing on Tuesday to propose repairs they want to do on West 6th Street from Main Street to Park Avenue. The road, school hill, has increasingly caused problems to property owners because it was poorly designed by the city’s engineers, causing poor water drainage and icing on the sidewalks in the winter. Council Members Walt Lucas and Dave Kramer and Mayor Steve Wiersgalla attended the meeting with 14 property owners.
