News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

August 2, 1997

According to Eagle Bend Police Chief Ryan VanDenheuvel, two snowmobiles taken from Northland Dairy Supply on December 31 and January 1 were both recovered the day after they were taken from the Polaris dealership. Damage was done to both snowmobiles. One sled was found by Eagle Bend Metals and the other by the creamery. On January 24, a vehicle was taken from Engebretson Motors in Eagle Bend and was damaged in a hit and run accident involving two other vehicles on Highway 71 near the junkyard east of Eagle Bend.

The Eagle Valley High School one-act play, “Funeral Tea” by Pat Wilson, will be going to subsection contest on January 30 at the Osakis High School. The cast is as follows: Alyssia Reining, Amber Benning, Jackee Svaren, DeeAnn Durheim and Arin Stoterau. The crew is made up of Sarah Booker, Jennifer Erickson and Priscilla Serbus.


50 Years Ago

January 27, 1972

Brad Lorentz, team committee chairman of the Eagle Bend Student Council, reported that the donkey basketball teams are being formed for the big event coming up on February 5 at 8 p.m. in the Eagle Bend High School gymnasium. The four teams formed are the students, the faculty, the farmers and the businessmen.

This week each patron of the Eagle Bend Post Office will receive a ticket advertising the Annual Benefit Ball of the Eagle Bend Volunteer Fire Department. The annual ball this year will be held on Saturday evening, February 12, at the Clarissa Ballroom with the receipt of your donation to the department being accepted as the admittance for the couple. Music will be furnished by Dave’s Serenaders.
