News from Eagle Bend's Past

September 20, 1995

Jerry Lorentz was just 24 years old when he and his wife Bev, and son Brad, came to Eagle Bend 20 years ago this month. He moved his body shop out of his dad’s new garage near Wadena and moved into the old livery stable on Main Street. Today, he and Brad work together in the body shop that has a reputation for quality workmanship. Jerry’s Body Shop did not open with the reputation it has today. Jerry said it took about ten years for the public to gain confidence in his abilities to repair and paint cars and trucks.

Richard Lundgren, principal of Eagle Valley High School, was nominated by Mary Oelrich for the Todd Unit Employer of the Year Award. This winning nomination qualified the school for the American Cancer Society’s Division (statewide) award. All statewide nominees showed exceptional support and understanding to their employees dealing with cancer. Although Eagle Valley High School was not selected as the Minnesota Division overall winner, the American Cancer Society commends the school and all its employees for providing a nurturing work environment to the employee experiencing cancer.
