Seven LPGE-Browerville Wolves qualify for State

Justin Crandall (120#) collected a Section 5A Championship and also won his 150th career match this past weekend in Long Prairie. Joining Crandall as champions were Landon Gode (132#), Mason Gode (138#) and Ted Stacey (152#). Braden Thom (106#), Nye Becker (145#) and Caleb Pesta (182#) all finished in second place to punch their ticket in the Individual State Tournament. Mason Gode will be making his fourth straight trip, while Landon Gode, Caleb Pesta and Justin Crandall are making their second appearance. Ted Stacey and Braden Thom will be making their first appearance this Friday at 9 a.m.
Braden Thom (40-9) will wrestle Caleb Boese (25-11) from Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted in the opening round. Justin Crandall (46-5) will face Trevor Michienzi (27-4) from Deer River. Landon Gode (44-3) will wrestle Lucas Winfield (29-14) from Grand Meadow/Leroy/Ostrander/Southland. Mason Gode (47-1) will see Jonah Gruenes (37-8) from Minneota. Nye Becker (34-10) will face Collin Boese (27-7) from Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted. Ted Stacey (38-11) will wrestle Carter Sorenson (46-1) from Fosston/Bagley. Caleb Pesta (38-9) will face Nathan Trio from Maple River. Best of luck to our Individual Wolves at State.
LPGE-Browerville had four wrestlers who just missed earning their trip to State. Cael Lorentz (113#), Carter Meiners (126#), Hans Holmquist (195#) and Levi Line (220#) all claimed third place in their respective brackets. Gabe Pesta and Trey Lancaster claimed fourth and fifth place podium finishes. Cael Lorentz notched his 75th varsity career win during the day.
The Wolves wrestlers wrestled well and carried themselves with pride, wrestling in front of a standing room only crowd in Long Prairie this past Saturday. The ten teams that make up Section 5A is arguably one of the deepest sections in the entire state, in both team and individual competition.
The Wolves wrestlers will be in action on Thursday, February 27 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. LPGE-Browerville (31-3) will face Badger/Greenbush/Middle River (17-10) in the State Team Quarterfinals at 9 a.m.
