Pine River-Backus Edges Browerville/Eagle Valley in Tight Contest
The Browerville/Eagle Valley Tigers came out strong on their home court but couldn’t hold off a late push from the Pine River-Backus Tigers, falling 65–62 in a tightly contested matchup.
Browerville/Eagle Valley controlled much of the first half, building a solid 36–28 lead by the break. The home Tigers established themselves on the glass, using their size and effort to create extra opportunities and limit second chances for Pine River-Backus.
That rebounding advantage continued throughout the game, as Browerville/Eagle Valley dominated the boards 52–41. Christian Tobas turned in a strong all-around performance, recording a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to help lead that effort inside. However, turnovers and free throws proved to be the difference down the stretch. Browerville/Eagle Valley committed 21 turnovers compared to 16 for Pine River-Backus, giving the visitors additional possessions in a game decided by just three points.
At the free-throw line, Pine River-Backus capitalized. The visitors converted 20 of 29 attempts, while Browerville/Eagle Valley made 8 of 15, leaving key points unclaimed in a close contest.
Isaiah Dawnie led all scorers with an impressive 29 points for Pine River-Backus. Aiden Hatchard scored 21 points, Ben Host chipped in 13, and Tobas added his 11-point effort to keep the home team within striking distance throughout the second half.
