Arvig experiences cyber attack
On Tuesday, October 25, Arvig experienced a cybersecurity incident at approximately 6:45 a.m. An attempted ransomware attack was unsuccessful. While it failed, the attackers were still able to cause a service interruption.
This attack failed due to the extra layers of protection implemented by Arvig’s cybersecurity team. These additional layers were created to protect their customers’ data, which will always be one of the top priorities. At this time, it does not appear that any customer or employee data was accessed.
This incident is being investigated thoroughly and a forensic analysis is being conducted to validate that the threat was mitigated.
Arvig was able to restore voice and internet services in approximately three and a half hours.
