BHVPP wrestlers show competition who’s the boss

by Coach Michael Arvidson

Last week, the grapplers went to Foley for a triangular. The first round was against the lean and mean ranked, host Falcons that any of the schools in the co-op have never beaten

before. However, this night would be different.

Hudson Truax and Orran Hart started the dual with back-to-back major decisions. Justin Olson picked up a win for the 11-0 lead before Foley answered with a tech fall.

Bennet Arceneau added another decision to make it 14-5.

We traded falls in the next two weights with David Revering prevailing for the Raiders tallying the score at 20-11 at the midway point.

The Falcons would run off the next three weights to take the lead 28-20.

Justin Koehn responded with a pin and a forfeit for Zach Mrnak regained the lead and it was 32-28 with two weights to go.

The 220-match came down to the wire as Braden Shamp trailed by two with less than ten seconds to go. However, his feet-to-back throw gave him T2 and N2 for the 5-3 decision and sealed the first-ever victory over Foley.

The hosts took the final match to finalize the BHVPP win 35-34.

The nightcap of the evening was against the Gobblers of Aitkin. This figured to be another tight dual.

Truax and Hart opened the scoring by accepting forfeits. Olson added a fall to make it 18-0. Aitkin stole the 126-match in the final seconds. . .
