Five LPGE-Browerville Wolves wrestlers qualify for State Elite Eight

by Coach Jacob Lorentz

To say this past week wasn’t the best wrestling of the year so far would be an understatement. The Wolves hosted the Section 5A individual tourney on Thursday, March 18 at the LPGE High School. This event was slightly different than a normal year, as if you placed in the top four in your bracket you would then move on to the State Prelims, held on Saturday, March 20.

The Wolves wrestled well and qualified 10 wrestlers for the State Prelim tourney: Connor Flan, Gavin Albers, Mason Bruder, Braden Thom, Omar Zamora, Cael Lorentz, Carter Meiners, Landon Gode, Mason Gode, and Bergen Pesta all placed in the top four of their respective brackets.

Tate Twardowski, Shawn Houdek, Joseph Middendorf, and Trey Lancaster, all won a match on the day but fell one spot short of qualifying. Joseph Middendorf’s career with the Wolves came to an end, and Joe will be missed as he had a fantastic senior season and left everything he had out on the mat.

Saturday, March 20, LPGE High School was the place to be for the Section 5A/6A State Prelim individual tourney. . .
