25 Years Ago

August 16, 1995

With the consolidation of the Eagle Bend and Clarissa school districts, a special election is needed to elect the board members of the new District 2759. The election will be held Tuesday, August 22. Twelve candidates are seeking election for the seven seats on the board. They are: Lynn A. Buchholz, Charles Godding, Dale Greenwaldt, Donald Hanson, Bob Henrich, Jerry Korfe, Donald Landecker, Matthew Rowe, Conrad Stoterau, Gary Taylor, Liz Westergren and Bob Winkler.

A broken sewer line going into the apartments on Main Street in Clarissa was the reason for the pile of dirt in the middle of the street. Dirt had to be piled onto the street because of the close working quarters between the building and the adjacent property line.


50 Years Ago

August 13, 1970

The Clarissa Boy Scout Troop, consisting of 25 scouts and their leaders Scoutmaster Jerry Schnettler and Bill Christensen, had an outing during the last week in July on the Crow Wing River.

An appreciation dinner will be held for Congressman Odin Langen on August 27 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.
