25 Years Ago

February 21, 1996

The Eagle Valley Spelling Bee was held on February 15 at the high school. Both high school and elementary students participated. Participants included: Amanda Crider, Andrea Ahrendt, Missy Olson, Gabrielle Godding, Danielle Notch, Cody Hess, Advisor Dave Sobotka, Tony Winkler, Justin Boseck, Charles Booker, Reader Jacki Johanson, Adam Notch, Marcus Hierl, Amanda Weibye, and Advisor Miss Daly. Justin Boseck was runner-up and Charles Booker was the winner.

The Clarissa Centennial Committee is ahead of schedule. All the names of the students of the Clarissa School are on the computer now. Vonda Hedlund and Roz Cuchna will be proofing the list. G.L. Johnson brought in samples of the butter crock and milk pitcher and also mugs and plates that will be sold as part of a fundraiser.


50 Years Ago

February 18, 1971

The Clarissa Buccaneers upset Eagle Bend 63-55 last Friday night before a standing-room crowd in Clarissa. The win moved Clarissa into a tie for third place in the Prairie Conference with Eagle Bend. Both teams have an 8-3 conference record.

Eugene Lindquist, Clarissa, national executive committeeman, was one of more than 1500 executives and officials of the American Legion that gathered this week to attend the 11th annual Washington conference.
