25 Years Ago

November 13, 1996

The Clarissa Fire Department held a very successful chili feed last Friday to help raise money for their new semi-automatic external defibrillator. It will assist in sudden cardiac failure rescue calls. Part of the unit is paid for with a grant but the department is having a fundraiser to pay for the remaining $3000.

Avon Products Inc. recently held a dinner banquet in honor of those Avon representatives who achieved high sales in district 5889 for the 1994-1995 Avon year. The level of achievement they were recognized for was “honor society.” They are pictured with their Honor Society Tea Cup Award. They are Donna Holmquist and Donna Schnettler of Clarissa and Margie Goepferd of Bertha.


50 Years Ago

November 11, 1971

“Please forgive a sinner” was the message left by a burglar or burglars who somehow entered the Eagle Valley Telephone Company sometime during Thursday night or early Friday morning. Manager Don Anderson found the note neatly printed on the outside of an envelope that was placed outside the main office door of the company when he arrived to open up on Friday morning.

The band needs your help. Do you know how much band uniforms cost? Around $8000 is needed for new uniforms. The uniforms they have were bought around 1953 and are well worn.
