Ringnecks Forevermore, headquartered in Bertha, held another pheasant release on April 22. Early in the morning, pick-up trucks and trailers and a large crew of sportsmen crowded the farmyard of the Rodney Westergren farm. The adult pheasants were loaded into cages and the birds began their trip to their new home. By mid-afternoon close to 800 adult hens and roosters had been released. The were released around Long Prairie, Staples, Parkers Prairie and Miltona.

Bertha-Hewitt first and second graders participated in “Jump Rope For Heart” in March. The children set a record for donations collected by bringing in $1873. The top fundraiser was Alida Moenkedick who brought in $179.

April 27, 1950
Governor Luther Youngdahl has tentatively accepted an invitation to speak at the picnic to be held the later part of June here in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Bertha Co-op Creamery Association.

Six Brownies of the Bertha Troop 8 “flew up” to join Girl Scout Troop 9 at special ceremonies in a joint meeting of the two groups. The six new girl scouts were Joyce Pratt, Shirley Zaske, Jean Sickles, Lenora Kapphahn, Doris Hartz and Beverly Young. Eight Girl Scouts also received their second class badges. They were Lorraine Hukriede, Sandra Tangen, Jan Hartz, Fayette Zaske, JoAnn Orr, Marlene Patri, Juanita Knedel and Muriel Kern.
