Bea Biermaier looked at the selection of Browerville Days mugs on sale this year. The 2001 Browerville Collector Mug is the second in a series of four. All profits from the sale of the mugs help to pay for Browerville Days expenses. They are on sale at the American Heritage National Bank or pick yours up at the fish fry this Friday evening at the community center.

Several women from Zion Lutheran Church and other area churches met every Monday and Tuesday throughout the months of January and February to craft handmade quilts. The quilts will be donated to charitable groups, such as Hands of Hope, Marie Sanvic Center and Lutheran World Relief to be distributed to needy families nationwide. Pictured with the quilts are: Ethel Lundstrom, Esther Super, Eva Steinert, Evie Eng, Alice Loken, Edwina Gritz, Phyllis VanHoever, Carol VanHoever, Ardina Gimm, Ardell Solem, Sylvia Jordahl, Lucille Baron and Mabel Rousselange.

A card of precaution against polio will be given to every school child in Minnesota, according to Dean M. Schweiekhard, state commissioner of education. Distribution of material will be made before the end of the school year through the local county chapter of the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis.

On Friday, April 27, James J. John attended a Medieval Institute celebration held at the Pierpond Morgan Library in New York City. This celebration was sponsored by Cardinal Spellman and James was one of some 200 students who received invitations. James is taking post-graduate work at the Medieval Institute of the Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. He is the son of Mr. ad Mrs. Jos. F. John of this village.
