News for Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago April 19, 1995 The Eagle Bend Fire Department was called to a kiln fire at the Allan Pederson residence at 10:30 Saturday night. When Pederson came out of the house he saw smoke and there were flames coming through the attic floor. The fire was contained in the attic where the fans circulated the air to dry the wood in the kiln. Pederson dries lumber for a door factory and 20,000 board feet of aspen will have to be reprocessed into another product, such as pallets. The cause of the fire is still unknown. ********** Lisa Pachan, daughter of Ed and Doris Pachan of rural Eagle Bend, participated in an alternative spring break trip in Tucson, Arizona through the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.

50 Years Ago April 16, 1970 Beacon staff included: Beverly Nordstrom, editor; Carol Gjerstad, assistant editor; Alyce Case, Brenda Clementson and Susan Nelson-interviews and news; Karen Johnson and Diana Bosek, biographers; Theresa Clark, feature editor; Gary Sadlemyer and Tim Greene, sports; Jeanne Simar, Marlys Clementson and Wannetta Wendel-typists. ********** The mother-daughter tea of the Faith Lutheran Church of Eagle Bend will be held on Saturday, April 18 . All mothers and daughters are welcome.
