The Eagle Valley Softball Team went 1-2 last week. The Rebels dropped a double header to Swanville and came back to defeat Browerville. The Rebels are now 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference. Swanville 9, EV 2. The Rebels traveled to Swanville last Thursday to take on the top team in the conference. Eagle Valley was short-handed as Senior Pitcher Jodi Taggart was ill and could not make the trip. Jodi had thrown every inning this year and that put a lot of pressure on the two junior pitchers. Lisa Schauer pitched the first game and pitched well for two innings as the Rebels led 2-1. It fell apart in the third as the Patriots scored six runs and four hits, two walks and an error to take the lead for good at 7-2.

This coming Sunday, May 17, will mark the end of an era as rural school district 2361 (or old number 152) holds its last annual school picnic. Due to recent legislation, the voters of the district have decided to dissolve the district and become a part of Eagle Bend School District Number 790. As this is the last existing rural school in operation in the Eagle Bend area, the teacher, Mrs. Esther Rachuy, school board members and the pupils invite all the residents of the district, former residents, and all those interested in the school, to join them for this last picnic.
