News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

June 28, 1995

It may have taken 20 plus years and three separate elections, but finally the voters of the Clarissa and Eagle Bend school districts have accomplished a successful consolidation vote. On June 20 voters of the two districts again went to the polls to decide the issue. The outcome was: Clarissa—123 yes; 31 no. Eagle Bend—128 yes; 6 no.

Tim and Sheri Mikish are the new owners of Eagle Meats in Eagle Bend. They live 10 miles south of Staples with their 11-year-old daughter Jessica. Tim has worked most recently as a machinist in Sartell and Sheri has been employed in St. Cloud as a social worker the past 13 years. Tim is experienced at sausage making and Sheri has fond memories of times spent in her grandfather’s butcher shop in Barrett.


50 Years Ago

June 25, 1970

County 4-H’ers received high placings at Lake Region Dairy Days. Class winners included Bruce Eckel, Lynette Tyrrell, Randy Meyer, Kevin Eckel, Dan Truax, Gene Captain, Steve Gaugert, Patti and Debbie Lenk, Diane, Curtis and Karen Krause.

The first annual style show and luncheon, sponsored by the Todd County Republican Women, was thoroughly enjoyed by over 50 women who gathered at the Lakeview Supper Club on Thursday. The models, Mrs. Goplen, Mrs. Frank King, Mrs. William Brandt, Mrs. Don Frost, Nancy Plum and Cora Flora, all of Long Prairie, chose summer fashions and they all looked lovely.
