Abuse, not use, was the reason for the city council’s decision to have the green recycling bin removed from Eagle Bend about noon on Tuesday, May 22. As anyone who has attempted to use it or even driven past the site knows, old stoves, water heaters, broken windows and dirty diapers are not recyclable materials but were still dumped there. Those who live or own businesses in the surrounding area had grown tired of picking up the trash that blew away from the bags being dumped on the ground. And it had created such an eyesore. Ultimately, the bin had to be removed. It was a sad day for the recyclers who used the bin properly.
