Snocross is a family affair

by Trinity Gruenberg

For two Verndale families, from December through the end of March, their schedules revolve around their kids competing in youth Snocross events.

Their love of the sport began five years ago when dad Mike Madsen heard of these races with the small sleds and thought it would be fun for his son Brock to give it a try.

Brock, 10, has enjoyed racing for the last five years. He began in the 120 and 200 classes. His younger cousin, Carson Sundby, 7, began racing just last year. Kaija Madsen, 14, also joined the circuit this year along with cousin, Tyson, 5.

Carson and Tyson are the sons of Kayla and Ryan Sundby. Kaija and Brock are the children of Mike and Sarah Madsen.

Kaija joined as she was becoming tired of following her brother and cousins to the races and just watching. . .
