Wadena County Commissioners: Concern about integrity brought to the board

by Trinity Gruenberg

The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on October 20.

Brian Hagen, who is running for district two commissioner, spoke to the commissioners, feeling an injustice had been done.

Hagen spoke with a citizen who told him when he ran for the county auditor/treasurer position, that one of the other candidates spoke at the Republicans of Wadena County gathering. One of the party leaders was Commissioner Sheldon Monson. Hagen was unaware of this at the time.

He asked the commissioners to tell the taxpayers they should expect more of the commissioners’ integrity than using their influence as a commissioner to sway an election.

“We need better out of you guys. When I heard that, that was ridiculous,” said Hagen.

Board Chair Chuck Horsager said it will be taken under advisement. He agreed with Hagen.

Court Update

Ryan Odden, the county coordinator/engineer, reported he and Kyra Ladd, county attorney, visited the Wadena-Deer Creek (WDC) School located in Deer Creek as a potential site to hold jury trials. . .
