25 Years Ago

February 18, 1998

Arlis Gonsior, a 21-year employee at the Clarissa Bank, has recently been promoted to a loan officer. She was previously a loan clerk. Arlis and her husband Dick live on a dairy farm near Browerville, They have two daughters, Stacy, 17, and Sarah, 15.

The Eagle Valley Cub Scouts held an awards ceremony during their Blue and Gold Banquet on Sunday. Participating were: Seth Hudalla, Josh Bailey, Nick Notch, Jordan Kramer, Kim Kramer and Dan Kramer—leaders, Travis Burns, Paul Schwantz, Tyler Notch, Adam Olson, LeAnn Olson and Chris Notch—leader. Stretch Smith was the guest speaker at the event.


50 Years Ago

February 15, 1973

The Clarissa Bucs defeated the Upsala Cardinals 56-48 in a hard-fought basketball game last Friday night. Clarissa’s victory marked the first time in 14 years that Clarissa High School had defeated Upsala on their court. Clarissa gave up only six turnovers and matched the Cardinals in rebounds.

Seventeen members were present at the Commercial Club luncheon and monthly meeting which was held Tuesday noon at the Coffee Cup Cafe. President Herbert Wolff presided over the meeting which opened with the reading of the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports which were approved.
