Dan Schroeder and Justin Dickinson, Eagle Valley FFA members, and their advisor, Curt Gjerstad, received T-shirts from Marion Bergs, president of the local Lutheran Brotherhood’s Friendship Branch. The FFA students helped with landscaping in Clarissa City Park to prepare the area for a new swing set. The project was done during Community Clean-Up Week. About 25 FFA members helped with the project.

Eagle Valley Band solo/ensemble contest winners in the excellent category at Browerville on April 9 were: Kate Ahrens, Meghan Greene, Jill Pontius, Tabitha Denny, Michael Aspengren, Kyle Greene, Becca Asfeld, Melissa Prather, Arin Stoterau, Diane Irish and Jackee Svaren.

“Closed evenings and Sundays” the sign reads in the window of Wayne’s Gas Station, as the national (so-called) gas shortage hit the village of Clarissa. Wayne Anderson, owner and operator of the station, told the Independent that he is forced to close those hours because his gas quota is not enough to fill his demands.
