News from Browerville's Past

During homecoming week in 1979, Diane Hage walked into an office buzzing with student activity to begin her new job as administrative secretary for the Browerville School District. Hage, who is retiring, said it will be the buzz of student activity and the personal contact with each student that she will miss the most. Staff at the school held a small gathering on December 21 in honor of her retirement. It was an enjoyable afternoon, but rather emotional as well. “It’s been a good 20 years,” she said.

Mothers of the Browerville Scouts have joined together to form a Troop Mothers Club. The purpose of this club is to help the scouts with their problems as a troop and to serve as a group to help family and troop relationships. Troop Mothers Clubs are set up in organization similar to a Scout Troop. Mrs. Walter Kotula will be the Chief Mother, and her assistants will be Mrs. Byron Monnie, Mrs. Urban Lemm and Mrs. Robert Plotnik.

Last Thursday, the Villard Independents invaded the local floor and defeated the local boys 56 to 50. The game was hard fought, in fact, sometimes you couldn’t tell if it was a basketball or a football game. However, no bones were broken and the game ended with the locals on the small end of the score. The local lineup included: Larry Loegering, Archie Mace, Bob Jonkowski, Ed Zins, Jim Monnie, Jim Nalezny, Leo Steinmetz, Leo Eldred, Spud Simonson, Herman Holler and Walt Kotula is the manager.
