25 Years Ago May 3, 1995 The convenience stores in Eagle Bend are getting facelifts. Petro Express Owner Doug Mielke is remodeling the restaurant, while Shirley’s Gas and Groceries Owner Shirley Lennes is installing two new gasoline pumps, lines and a concrete driveway. Lennes said the project should be completed by the weekend. Mielke is hoping to have the restaurant open by mid-June. He is looking for someone to lease the facility, which will be about twice as large as the previous cafe. ********** The Eagle Valley band and choir received superior and excellent honors at competition. Instrumental superior solos and ensembles went to Shannon Bican, Sara Bain, Kerry Sieling, Kelly Greene, Jill Pontius, Maija Wiltermuth, Jon Baso, Jason Bain, Sarah Booker and Doug LaDue. Vocal superiors solos and ensembles went to Shannon Bican, Kelly Greene, Kari Lundstrom, Alesha Murch and Chris Godding.

50 Years Ago April 18, 1970 Congratulations to Warren Pommier, Dan Sprague and Steve Sarff who are State Farmer Degree recipients and to Gary Sadlemyer who is a regional winner in Home Improvement. Melvin Lloyd is their local FFA advisor. ********** The junior class of Eagle Bend High School will be host to the seniors at the annual prom banquet on Saturday evening, May 2. The grand march is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Music will be provided by the Dave Schaefer Band.
