25 Years Ago

June 17, 1998

Megan Thibodeau’s parents, Tom and Tammy Thibodeau of Clarissa, entered Megan and her little sister Emily in a beautiful baby contest through the Little Falls region. Megan won a trip to Chicago, a photo session with a professional photographer and a contact sheet of the proofs from the photo shoot. The composite of the photographs taken by George Papadakis featured four pictures of Megan and information on her clothing sizes, birth date and coloring. Megan recently went professional. She modeled for a Target ad which will run on June 21.

Members of the Eagle Valley School Board received some good news and some bad news at the June meeting. The good news was Eagle Valley was the recipient of 40 refurbished computers, according to Superintendent Dale Svaren, who sent in an application for the computers. He figured each computer was worth at least $1000. The bad news was the heating contractor working on the installation of the new heating system in the Clarissa building has discovered a large quantity of asbestos.

50 Years Ago

June 14, 1973

Colleen Holmquist of Clarissa, 1972 Todd County Dairy Princess, crowned the 1973 queen, Connie Ward of Bertha, at a coronation held in conjunction with Todd County Dairy Day in Long Prairie last Thursday. Runner-up in the dairy princess contest was Carmen Carlson of Clarissa. Miss Ward and Miss Carlson will represent Todd County in the Region Three Dairy Princess Contest to be held in Wadena June 20. Colleen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Veronen Holmquist, and Connie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Ward of Bertha, and Carmen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlson.

Larry Dickinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Dickinson of this community, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring quarter at Willmar Technical Institute.
