The Gjerstad brothers are working hard at having fun during their summer break from teaching school. This is Tom’s third year and Curt’s second year racing at “U-cars” at I94 Speedway in Fergus Falls. Tom is currently battling for first place and Curt has a hold on fourth place for the season.

Ball shaggers probably thought they were going to be rich Sunday night as 11 home runs sailed out of Clarissa’s ballpark. Wadena blasted seven of the four-baggers, but the Flyers rallied for a 13-12 victory. The victory gave the home team a record of 12-1 in the Hi-1- League’s East Division and sewed up the title for the Flyers.

Two Clarissa girls, Peggy Jo Anderson and Carmen Carlson, participated in the Miss Wadena Vacationland Pageant at Wadena last Thursday evening. The pageant is sponsored each year by the Wadena Jaycees and Mrs. Jaycees.

Mrs. Gordon Hokanson and Mrs. Ben Lunemann could hardly believe their eyes when they were returning home about 11 a.m. Saturday morning and saw two moose eating in a hayfield on the Hokanson farm.
